It’s a good idea to spend some time customising your new camera. It will pay off when it comes to getting the most out its functionality. The Canon 5D IV lets you customise your settings and buttons easily from the menu button.
it’s easy to take autofocus off the shutter setting and default focus to the back button. This will give you back button control of your focus so it only has metering. Read how to do this in our Back Button Focus Guide.
We recommend adjusting the set button to magnification so that you can easily zoom in on your image to check the focus is accurate – you’ll only need one hand instead of two! You can also zoom using the touch screen.
When video recording, the shutter button can be your trigger to start and stop recording. This is really useful when you want to take a quick video without having to go into settings.
When you’re out taking lots of shoots, it goes without saying that your battery will eventually die and there isn’t much you can do about that. Having a spare battery handy is essential. You never know when you’ll be in the perfect moment and your battery runs out.
Keep your new camera safe by carrying it around in in a bag or case that suits your needs. You can never have too many bags… A blower brush is also a good idea to keep your camera clean and dust free.
