Tilt Shift Lenses

What is a tilt-shift lens? Also known as perspective control lenses, tilt-shift lenses are special types of lens that let you manipulate focus and perspective. This is done via controls that tilt or shift the lens’ focal plane so it no longer sits parallel to the camera sensor. Use the tilt function to capture a tiny sliver or impossibly deep section of a scene in focus – handy for creating ‘miniature’ effects. Or use the shift function to move the image plane up, down or to either side without moving the camera – ideal for keeping tall verticals straight and for shooting into mirrors.
