Tiny Subjects in Extraordinary Detail

Capture the tiniest of subjects, from a raindrop on a spider’s web to engravings on an antique ring, with extraordinary detail using the Sony FE 90mm f 2.8 Macro G OSS lens. A fixed, mid-telephoto focal range and 1.0x magnification ratio make this macro lens perfect for photographing subjects up close without disturbing or overshadowing them. It’s equally brilliant for portrait photography, food photography and other subjects best captured with a mid-telephoto zoom.

Peak Optical Performance

Outstanding G lens quality ensures the stunning resolution and beautifully smooth bokeh of the Sony FE 90mm f 2.8 macro lens. Each lens is individually tested and calibrated, resulting in peak optical performance with minimal distortion. A floating focus mechanism maintains this quality at all focusing distances, and a bright f2.8 maximum aperture allows for striking separation between subject and background, as well as superb results in low-light situations.

Fast, Accurate and Quiet Focus

Dual DDSSM (Direct Drive Super Sonic wave Motor) systems allow the Sony 90mm f2.8 macro lens to focus with speed, accuracy and quietness. This allows you to not only secure sharp images but also avoid alarming your subject (if you’re photographing animals or insects) or disrupting your video footage with operational noise. Press the focus hold button (conveniently located on the lens barrel) to keep your focus locked at a given setting, even in continuous AF mode.

Inner Focus for Improved Handling

Even slight extension and rotation of your lens can hinder good macro photography. The Sony 90mm macro lens focuses internally so the lens length remains unchanged during focusing. As well as improved handling this provides faster autofocus, a closer minimum focusing distance, and no rotation of the front filter thread – particularly beneficial for users of polarising filters. Minimal focus breathing is another advantage, which video producers will certainly appreciate.

Quick, Intuitive Auto/Manual Focus Switching

Looking away from the viewfinder to switch between auto and manual focus can often mean missing the shot. The Sony 90mm f2.8 macro lens allows you to keep your eyes on your subject, thanks to a focus ring—conveniently placed where your hand would rest while shooting—that can be slid back and forth to activate auto or manual focus.

Sharp, Handheld Macro Shooting

Sharp macro photography usually requires a tripod, but the Sony 90mm f2.8 Macro G OSS lens’ inbuilt Optical SteadyShot (OSS) image stabilisation makes it possible to capture sharp macro shots handheld. Couple the Sony 90mm Macro G lens with an in-body stabilised Sony camera to get the benefit of 5-axis image stabilisation.

Weather Resistant Design

With its dust- and moisture-resistant design, this Sony macro lens gives you the confidence to shoot even in challenging conditions such as wind or light rain.
