Nikon + RED Color Science
Developed in partnership with RED, the Nikon ZR offers true cinema-grade colour and workflow compatibility. The camera supports REDCODE RAW (R3D NE), unlocking REDWideGamutRGB colour space and Log3G10 curve for seamless integration with RED camera systems. In addition, the ZR records in Nikon’s own N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ/422 HQ, as well as efficient H.264 and H.265 codecs.
Capture in resolutions up to 6K60, 4K120, or 1080p240 for slow-motion sequences without compromise.
Professional Audio Capture
High-quality 32-bit float and 24-bit audio recording ensures exceptional sound detail, with full support for 48 kHz linear PCM to match professional video workflows. The ZR features built-in configurable microphones, a line input for external mics, and a digital accessory shoe for dedicated options such as the ME-D10 shotgun or H2315 attachment. A headphone jack is included for real-time monitoring.
Recording and Output
Recording is handled by a CFexpress Type B slot, cleverly positioned within the battery compartment for a compact footprint. A secondary microSD slot enables proxy recording, while a micro-HDMI output allows external monitoring or capture.
Advanced Autofocus
Powered by deep learning, Nikon’s AF system offers up to 9-subject detection with intelligent tracking of people, animals, and vehicles.
High-Brightness Display
A large 4-inch variable-angle touchscreen provides easy control and monitoring with DCI-P3 colour support, 1000 cd/m² brightness, and 3.07M-dot resolution. The screen automatically rotates for vertical shooting.
Creative Control with Custom LUTs
Load up to 10 LUTs directly into the camera for accurate real-time colour preview and streamlined workflows.
Lens Compatibility & Stabilisation
With the Nikon Z mount, the ZR supports the full NIKKOR Z lens lineup and third-party lenses via adapters. Built-in sensor-shift image stabilisation delivers up to 7.5 stops of compensation, ensuring smooth handheld or gimbal shots.
