Hoya 58mm Pro ND500 Filter Overview
The HOYA PROND500 is a dark neutral density (ND) filter that provides a 9-stop light reduction, equivalent to an ND optical density of 2.7, making it ideal for creating dramatic effects like extreme motion blur in bright lighting conditions. Designed for still photography and HDSLR video, it features Hoya's exclusive clear optical glass with Metallic ACCU-ND coating on both sides, ensuring a truly neutral color balance without color shifts, even when switching between filters. This advanced coating allows photographers to set a white balance once and maintain consistent colour accuracy across lighting changes or creative adjustments. Part of the PROND series, which includes filters offering light reductions from 2 to 10 stops, the PROND500 enables slower shutter speeds or wider apertures by significantly reducing light entering the camera lens, opening up creative possibilities such as achieving an 8-second exposure in daylight at f/22.
