Housed inside the Sony A7R V is a 61.0MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and a powerful BIONZ XR image processing engine. This dynamic combination provides revolutionary full-frame resolution and accurate colour reproduction enhanced by deep-learning technology. Despite this sensor’s high pixel count, it delivers low noise throughout a wide standard sensitivity range up to ISO 32 000, which is expandable to ISO 102 400 for stills. Exquisite image quality in stills is achieved with 15 stops of dynamic range at lower sensitivities to record smooth colour transitions and the subtleties of highlight and shadow gradation. 

Sony’s latest BIONZ XR engine bolsters image processing capabilities with significantly faster processing, greatly reduced rolling shutter, and impressive high-resolution burst shooting rates. The A7R V can record up to 583 compressed RAW images when shooting at its maximum continuous burst rate of 10 fps with AF/AE tracking.

5-Axis In Body Optical Image Stabilisation

Features in-built image stabilisation that delivers up to 8-stop compensation to support maximum sharpness and resolution for stills. The advanced stabilisation system effectively detects and compensates for slight movements during handheld operation typical of shooting with telephoto lenses, slow shutters and macro work. Active IS mode is available when recording video to achieve smoother handheld footage.

Advanced Hybrid Auto Focus System

Sony’s acclaimed auto-focus technology reliably delivers fast and accurate AF capabilities in a wide range of shooting scenarios. The A7R V’s AI-based processing unit recognises and tracks subjects' movements in real-time across 693 high-density phase-detection points for more precise focus in stills and video. Subject recognition AF effectively tracks humans, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains and aeroplanes without missing a beat, allowing you to focus on framing and composition. With enhanced AI technology, the A7R V now uses human pose estimation technology to track human bodies and head positions. Improved performance in animal recognition means heads and bodies are now recognised as well as eyes. 

The full-time Direct Manual Focus (DMF) function allows the focus to be manually changed after it has been confirmed with the camera's AF system making it easier to react quickly and switch focus to a different subject while using AF. 

Focus bracketing of up to 299 images with sequentially shifted focus points can be captured to obtain maximum depth of field for close-up work and vast landscapes.  

8K and 4K Video Recording

Beyond high-resolution stills, the A7R V uses its fast processing capabilities to offer complete production flexibility with a range of recording formats. Recording 8K 24p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit is achievable using full pixel readout for spectacular detail and realism. Oversampled 4K 30p 10-bit recording is also possible using the entire width of the sensor, as well as 4K 60p 10-bit with a Super 35 crop, while frame rates up to 120fps are possible in full-HD. Capable of outputting 16-bit RAW for incredibly natural colour rendition

The A7R V features an extremely wide dynamic range in movie recording of up to 14+ stops of latitude with low noise for extraordinary performance in harsh light. Detail is retained in deep shadows and bright highlights, allowing more creative freedom when grading.

• S-Cinetone produces rich colours and pleasing true-to-life skin tones straight out of the camera. Perfect for projects with limited time or budget for colour grading, S-Cinetone is a way of achieving a film-like feel without the need for post-production.
