Tripods Information

We also stock an assortment of tripod heads to suit different jobs and equipment, as well as tripod accessories and monopods. Explore our range of tripod kits (which include a tripod head and legs) or mix and match separate tripods and tripod heads to create the perfect combination for you.

Why Use A Tripod?

With three sturdy, lockable and extendable legs, a tripod provides an extremely stable camera platform that can be raised or lowered. This reduces camera shake, ensuring sharpness in static areas of photos (great for exposure bracketing, long exposures and time lapses) and consistency in framing (very helpful for portraiture, product and fashion photography, and creative effects like stop motion) that no photo editing software can match.

A Tripod for Every Photographer & Videographer

CameraPro stocks tripods of all different sizes, materials and designs to suit different applications. How and what you shoot will determine which model is best for you. Here’s a brief guide to the main types.

Tabletop tripods are a simple, super portable option for travellers, hikers and casual shooters. They’re great for self-portraits and can be used when video podcasting. As they don’t need to stand on the ground, they can be placed on a table, closer to your subject. Some models have flexible legs that can be used in the normal fashion or wrapped around objects like trees or fence posts—perfect for photographers who need/want a creative or hard to reach perspective, and locations that don’t permit traditional tripods.

If you hike or travel a lot, a lightweight travel tripod is the ideal solution. This type of tripod is almost always the lightest in its class; Gitzo tripods and carbon fibre Manfrotto tripods are highly recommended for their clever design and build quality. Travel tripods usually have detachable heads, and features that allow them to fold up to the smallest possible size.

In contrast, studio tripods are typically large and heavy. As a result, they’re usually extendable to higher heights. They’re also the most stable type of tripod, which makes them less portable but ideal for larger and heavier cameras. Suitable if you shoot mostly static images (e.g. landscapes) and/or stay in the studio.

Though other tripod types (with an appropriate fluid head attached) can be used for video recording, a dedicated video tripod is recommended for larger video rigs. As well as greater strength and stability, video tripods often have other helpful features such as bubble level indicators, ‘spreaders’ that brace the legs for added support, and interchangeable feet for use on different surfaces.

Be it a solid tripod for DSLR users in the studio or a lightweight tripod for hiking or regular travel, CameraPro has an extensive range of camera tripods, tripod heads and tripod accessories for sale to suit your needs and budget. All our products are 100% genuine Australian stock with full manufacturer warranties.
