7K Full-Frame CMOS Sensor

At the heart of the EOS C50 is a 7K back-illuminated full-frame CMOS sensor, designed for outstanding clarity and low noise across a wide range of lighting conditions. It delivers over 15 stops of dynamic range in full-frame mode and offers the flexibility of oversampled 4K60 recording from the full 7K capture.

3:2 Open Gate Recording

For the first time in the Cinema EOS line, the C50 supports Open Gate recording. Shooting in 3:2 mode unlocks the full sensor area, ideal for cropping and reframing in post, or for creative work with anamorphic lenses.

Internal RAW and High Frame Rate Options

Record in 7K60 Cinema RAW Light with three 12-bit modes (HQ, ST, LT) for maximum control in post. For broadcast and production-friendly workflows, capture 10-bit 4:2:2 XF-AVC footage at up to 120 fps with no sensor crop. Slow motion is supported up to 4K120 and 2K180. Additional formats such as XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S simplify file management while maintaining metadata integrity.

Anamorphic and Creative Tools

Anamorphic de-squeeze is supported internally with selectable ratios (2x, 1.8x, 1.5x, 1.3x), allowing accurate on-camera monitoring. Simultaneous crop recording offers instant delivery-ready 9:16, 9:17, or 1:1 social media formats directly from the camera, saving time in post.

Dual Base ISO and Advanced Autofocus

Dual base ISOs of 800 and 6400 in Canon Log 2 maximise dynamic range in any lighting. Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with deep learning provides reliable subject detection for people, animals, and birds, with left/right eye priority selection. Even at high frame rates (4K120, 2K150), autofocus performance remains accurate.

Hybrid Functionality: Cinema Meets Mirrorless

Switch seamlessly into Photo Mode to use the C50 as a full-featured stills camera. Capture up to 32MP images, shoot continuously at 40fps, and enjoy the shallow depth of field and bokeh of a full-frame sensor. Dual Pixel AF II remains active, making it an ideal hybrid tool for creators.

Professional Connectivity

The compact body includes HDMI, timecode, headphone, 3.5mm mic, 2.5mm remote, and multipurpose USB-C ports. Dual card slots (CFexpress Type-B and SD) support simultaneous recording, including proxies. The detachable handle adds two full-sized XLR inputs with 48V phantom power, plus a zoom rocker and start/stop controls.

IP Workflow and Cloud Integration

With built-in Wi-Fi and XC Protocol, the C50 integrates into remote production and virtual production environments. Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud support enables instant proxy upload for streamlined collaboration, while CV Metadata output supports advanced VFX and LED volume workflows.

Vertical Shooting Interface

For social and mobile-first creators, the C50 features a native vertical UI. Menus, controls, and displays adapt automatically, with touchscreen support for start/stop recording in vertical orientation.
