A Slimmer, Faster, More Responsive GR

The Ricoh GR IV is the newest model in the acclaimed GR series, designed for photographers who want high image quality in a compact, portable body. It features a 25.7MP BSI CMOS sensor paired with a redesigned 28mm-equivalent prime lens, delivering sharp detail and clarity. Enhancements include faster autofocus, improved shake reduction, increased internal memory, and a new battery for longer shooting. Specialised focusing and shooting modes have also been refined, while the dedicated GR WORLD app enables wireless control and easy image sharing.

New 25.7MP BSI CMOS Sensor and GR ENGINE 7

The GR IV is equipped with a newly developed 25.7MP APS-C back-illuminated CMOS sensor, designed to deliver cleaner images with reduced noise. Working alongside the updated GR ENGINE 7 processor, the camera achieves improved low-light performance by up to one stop, faster 0.6-second startup, quicker autofocus, and expanded sensitivity up to ISO 204800. It also continues to support versatile 14-bit DNG and JPEG recording formats.

Improved Autofocus Performance

One of the major improvements in the GR IV is its faster and more responsive autofocus system. Powered by the GR ENGINE 7 processor and a redesigned, lighter lens, the camera reduces focus hunting and delivers smoother subject tracking and face recognition. Low-light focusing has also been enhanced, combining improved image quality with quicker, more accurate performance in challenging conditions.

The autofocus system can detect faces and eyes with precision, automatically identifying the main subject when multiple faces are present and displaying the in-focus area on the LCD. For street photographers, the Full Press Snap function allows instant focus at a preset distance by fully pressing the shutter, eliminating delays and ensuring you capture decisive moments without hesitation.

5-Axis Shake Reduction

The GR IV introduces a new 5-axis Shake Reduction system that provides up to 6 stops of stabilisation, making it highly effective for handheld shooting in low-light conditions. Compared to the previous 3-axis design, this upgraded system compensates for a wider range of camera movements, delivering sharper results and greater stability in challenging shooting situations.

Image Control

The Image Control function provides 12 preset modes for applying distinct looks to your photos, including a new Cinema mode with Yellow or Green tones for a nostalgic, film-inspired effect. Each mode can be customized by adjusting parameters such as saturation, contrast, hue, key, and grain, with additional options to fine-tune strength and size for a more personalized style.
