In 2025, CameraPro brought the community together through hands-on experiences designed to educate and inspire. Across the year, photographers and videographers joined us to explore new gear, gain insight from industry experts, and put their skills into practice.
Covering everything from food and portrait photography to sports video and professional lighting, each event encouraged learning, creativity, and connection.
Here’s a look back at some of the standout moments that made 2025 a year to remember.
Fujifilm GFX 100RF Hands-On Experience: Food Photography Shoot
March 26, 2025
We started the year with a creative food photography session using the Fujifilm GFX 100RF. Led by Fujifilm’s National Training & Events Specialist, Charlie Blevins, the hands-on event gave attendees a chance to explore medium-format photography while shooting food in a real-world setting.
During the session, participants learned about the key features of the GFX 100RF and how to use its high resolution, colour detail, and dynamic range to improve food photography. With food provided by Ping Pong, photographers practiced composition, lighting, and styling to capture clean and detailed images.
The session combined practical learning with creative exploration, making it a strong and inspiring way to begin the year.
Nikon x CameraPro: Hands-On Experience with Nikon’s Latest Gear
March 28, 2025
In partnership with Nikon Australia, this hands-on event gave attendees the chance to try out Nikon’s newest gear up close. The showcase featured early access to new releases, including the COOLPIX P1100 and the latest NIKKOR Z lenses, allowing photographers to see how the equipment performs in real shooting situations.
With a Nikon representative on-site, participants were guided through the features and strengths of each product while testing them in a styled food and jewellery shoot setup. Attendees were able to ask questions, get practical shooting tips, and receive direct feedback while experimenting with different settings and lenses.
The session offered a relaxed and practical learning environment, helping photographers better understand the gear and how it can be used across different creative projects.
Nikon Z5II Touch ’n’ Try
April 11, 2025
Hosted at CameraPro Newstead, this Touch ’n’ Try event gave photographers a hands-on opportunity to experience the full capabilities of the Nikon Z5 II. Attendees explored the camera’s impressive full-frame performance, testing features such as its low-light sensitivity, fast and accurate autofocus, and versatile shooting modes.
Participants were able to see firsthand how the Z5 II handles a variety of photography situations, from everyday snapshots to more creative and challenging shoots. The event provided a practical, interactive setting where photographers could experiment with the camera, gain insights from knowledgeable staff, and better understand why the Z5 II is a strong choice for both enthusiasts and professional users.
Profoto Campaign Shoot with Laz Smith (Impact Media)
April 23, 2025
Held at the newly opened Apero Studios, this campaign shoot offered attendees an inside look at Profoto’s D Series lights in action, guided by Laz Smith of Impact Media. Photographers and creatives were able to watch professional workflows unfold, observing how lighting, composition, and creative direction come together to produce high-quality campaign imagery.
The session provided a hands-on learning experience, with demonstrations of key lighting techniques, tips for achieving consistent results, and insight into managing a professional studio shoot from start to finish. Beyond the technical side, the event also created opportunities for attendees to connect and network with fellow photographers, stylists, and creatives, making it both an educational and collaborative experience in a real studio environment.
Portrait Session with Tim Bauer, Hasselblad & Profoto

One of the most anticipated and exclusive events of the year, this portrait session featured the acclaimed editorial photographer Tim Bauer. Using Hasselblad cameras paired with Profoto lighting, attendees were offered a rare opportunity to observe and participate in high-level portrait photography.
Throughout the session, Tim shared insights into his creative process, including how he approaches composition, lighting, and storytelling to bring each portrait to life. Participants were able to watch professional techniques in action, gain practical tips on managing a shoot, and even try their hand at capturing images under expert guidance.
Level Up This EOFY with Nikon
June 21, 2025
Just in time for EOFY, Nikon State Sales Manager Steve Merrin joined us at CameraPro Newstead for an in-store session dedicated to personalised gear advice. Attendees had the opportunity to discuss their photography needs directly with Steve, whether they were looking to upgrade their existing kit, explore new lenses, or learn more about Nikon’s latest gear.
The session provided practical guidance, hands-on demonstrations, and expert tips tailored to each participant’s interests and experience level. By the end of the event, attendees left feeling informed, confident, and inspired, equipped with the knowledge to make the most of their equipment and take their photography to the next creative level.
CameraPro x Sony: Sports Media Day Video Workshop with Kurt Thompson

This high-energy workshop led by Kurt Thompson, also known as Kurtogram, took sports videography to the next level, going far beyond standard event coverage. Attendees gained an in-depth look at cinematic storytelling techniques, advanced lighting setups, and practical workflows used when shooting for elite athletes and international brands.
Throughout the session, participants were able to see how Kurt approaches pre-production planning, on-location shooting, and post-production to create dynamic, engaging sports content. The workshop also offered hands-on opportunities to practice these techniques, receive expert feedback, and explore creative approaches to capturing motion, emotion, and action in sports.
Hasselblad Live Shoot & Workshop with Trent Mitchell & MadebyPlasma
November 20, 2025
We wrapped up the year with a memorable creative evening featuring Trent Mitchell alongside the team from MadebyPlasma. The event brought together photographers and creatives for a live shoot using the Hasselblad X2D II 100C, giving guests the chance to see the camera in action and understand how it performs in a professional creative setting.
Following the live shoot, attendees took part in an interactive screen-printing workshop led by MadebyPlasma. Each guest created and took home a custom-printed tote bag, adding a hands-on and creative element to the night. With food, drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere, the event encouraged conversation, collaboration, and fresh ideas—making it a perfect way to close out the year.
