Expect dramatically-improved AF on the Sony Alpha A7R Mark III, for beautiful shots with outstanding detail of even the fastest-moving objects. Whether you’re capturing your own pet or a wild animal or you’re standing on the edge of a speedway track, an evolved 4D FOCUS system draws on 399 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection areas for fast focusing, superior tracking and great low-light reliability – with precision down to EV-3. With Lock-on AF and other functions available with this Fast Hybrid AF System – at AF speeds twice as fast as previous a7R models – you’re bound to be impressed.
The Sony Alpha A7R Mark III boasts an impressive 42.4MP Exmor R CMOS back-illuminated CMOS sensor flaunting a gapless on-chip lens design and copper wiring for faster transmission of data. Together with the camera’s BIONZ X image processor, this powerful combo work together to deliver a high-performance shooting experience – including UHD 4K video, fast continuous shootings speeds, a 15-stop dynamic range and ISO 100-32000 (expanded to ISO 50-102400). You will be stunned by the results: flawless, high-resolution stills and video that capture every little detail with minimal noise, from the texture of a fabric to the mood of a candle-lit dinner party.
Enjoy the flexibility to shoot handheld for even longer with this mirrorless camera, thanks to a built-in five-axis SteadyShot INSIDE Image Stabilisation system. It can compensate for five different types of camera shake for crisp stills and video across the full focal length range. Better yet, all five axes of stabilisation will continue to function even when used with adapters, third-party lenses and lenses that already feature built-in optical stabilisation.
Whether video is your passion or you’re looking to dabble in the realms of motion footage, the Sony Alpha A7R Mark III can help you achieve even your wildest dreams. Offering outstanding UHD 4K quality video, the impressive range of video features extends to enhanced zebra function, time code and user bit settings and proxy recording. This Sony camera also supports Full HD video – including quick and slow motion – with control over gamma, black level, knee and colour level, as well as HLG support and the same S-Log2 Gamma Curve found on high-end Sony Cinema cameras.
The beauty of this feature-packed Sony camera is that, while it is rather small and lightweight, it is built for rigid use and can endure the elements. The magnesium alloy chassis body offers that extra level of durability without being heavy, and can still support heavy lenses. Dust- and moisture-resistant seals mean you can confidently keep shooting in changing weather conditions, whether you’re standing in coastal sand dunes or dark clouds roll over and light rain starts to fall. Wherever you go, this camera will not hold you back.
A number of thoughtful and well-designed features make the Sony Alpha A7R Mark III a breeze to use. With both a 3.69-million-dot Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder – offering high visibility in darkness and AF capability – as well as a three-inch 1.44m-dot rear touchscreen LCD that tilts up and down for multi-angle viewing, enjoy the flexibility to operate the A7R Mark III however best suits you. Shoot at eye-level for accurate AF tracking or get down low on the ground to discover a unique angle for enhanced creative expression. A durable shutter unit, large-capacity rechargeable-battery and dual memory card slots round out the list of memorable features.

Pixel Shift shooting is a new and unique compositing function in the Sony a7R III, which allows you to achieve greater than 42.4MP resolution – increasing it by four times. By taking four images and shifting the sensor 1 pixel between each, the camera is able to capture extra resolution – you can then combine the images later in post-production using the Sony Imagine software. It will still be a 42-megapixel file, but will contain four times the resolution. You’ll be amazed by the detail!
Yes, the camera features a ratings function so you can assign star values, from 1-5, to images in-camera while you’re on the go, so you can edit and sort your images faster once you’re at home during post-production.
The memory card slot 1 is UHS-II compatible – perfect for the Sony SF-G Series UHS-II SD, for the best performance. The second card slot is UHS-I compatible – ideal for the SF-UZ Series SD.
