The Sony Alpha A7R Mark III boasts an impressive 42.4MP Exmor R CMOS back-illuminated CMOS sensor flaunting a gapless on-chip lens design and copper wiring for faster transmission of data. Together with the camera’s BIONZ X image processor, this powerful combo work together to deliver a high-performance shooting experience – including UHD 4K video, fast continuous shootings speeds, a 15-stop dynamic range and ISO 100-32000 (expanded to ISO 50-102400). You will be stunned by the results: flawless, high-resolution stills and video that capture every little detail with minimal noise, from the texture of a fabric to the mood of a candle-lit dinner party.
Enjoy the flexibility to shoot handheld for even longer with this mirrorless camera, thanks to a built-in five-axis SteadyShot INSIDE Image Stabilisation system. It can compensate for five different types of camera shake for crisp stills and video across the full focal length range. Better yet, all five axes of stabilisation will continue to function even when used with adapters, third-party lenses and lenses that already feature built-in optical stabilisation.

The magnesium alloy chassis body offers that extra level of durability without being heavy, and can still support heavy lenses. Dust- and moisture-resistant seals mean you can confidently keep shooting in changing weather conditions, whether you’re standing in coastal sand dunes or dark clouds roll over and light rain starts to fall. Wherever you go, this camera will not hold you back.

Pixel Shift shooting is a new and unique compositing function in the Sony a7R III, which allows you to achieve greater than 42.4MP resolution – increasing it by four times. By taking four images and shifting the sensor 1 pixel between each, the camera is able to capture extra resolution – you can then combine the images later in post-production using the Sony Imagine software. It will still be a 42-megapixel file, but will contain four times the resolution. You’ll be amazed by the detail!
Yes, the camera features a ratings function so you can assign star values, from 1-5, to images in-camera while you’re on the go, so you can edit and sort your images faster once you’re at home during post-production.
