Expect superior, high-precision performance with every click of the shutter on this mirrorless Panasonic camera. With a 20MP Digital Live MOS sensor and Venus Engine processor, beautiful images with clarity, rich colour reproduction and reduced noise come naturally. Fast auto-focusing is also a highlight, with a 49-point focus detect and various AF modes, from Face/Eye Detection to Starlight AF. So whether you’re shooting galaxies in faraway skies at night or taking family portraits in the backyard, the GX9 will deliver fabulous shots across a range of lenses.
Various ergonomic features make this mirrorless camera a joy to operate, and whether you’re off to a wedding or travelling the globe, it’s slim and stylish design makes it convenient to carry while still looking great. Either shoot from the hip or shoot at eye-level; the GX9’s trademark tilting Live View Finder (LVD) can tilt up by around 80 degrees (an Eye Sensor is activated just by looking into the viewfinder) while the tilting LCD screen offers a more relaxed shooting style and unique angles. You’ll also find an exposure dial for quick exposure setting adjustments and a focus lever to easily change between AFS (AFF)/AFC and manual focus.
Shooting in low light conditions such as at dusk or when indoors is not such a hard task on the Panasonic DC-GX9 thanks to various features, including Panasonic’s Dual IS technology. It can support up to 4iv stops of stabilisation – so you can shoot handheld at lower ISOs, slower shutter speeds and all focal lengths from wide to telephoto. A -4EV luminance detection in Low Light AF also allows precise autofocus in low light conditions. Even scenes in almost complete darkness can be electronically illuminated in Live View Boost so you can check accuracy in Live View mode before hitting the shutter.
Fabulous 4K capabilities extend to both photo and video footage in the Panasonic DC-GX9. Enjoy 4K video recording with 4K Live Cropping for stable panning and zooming as you work to produce cinema-quality footage you’ll be excited to show friends and family. The 4K Photo and 4K Pre-burst mode shoots 30 frames per second before and after the shutter is released. Capture a mesmerising sequence such as a skater doing a jump, the movement of a dancer or a child jumping on a trampoline. Post Focus and Focus Stacking is also possible on this great compact camera.
Whether you’re an amateur or you have refined your photography skills to be able to shoot with full control, the Panasonic GX9 offers a wide range of modes to draw on. As well as offering full Manual control (M), Shutter Priority (S), Aperture Priority (Aperture) and Program mode (P), you can also opt to play with the variety of Scene Modes for pre-set settings that’ll help you capture the best image in a variety of shooting environments.
It doesn’t matter where you are – if you at an airport waiting for a flight, having coffee at a café or at home in the comfort of your lounge – wireless connectivity makes life a breeze with the Panasonic DC-GX9. Share images directly to your smartphone to upload to social media via a Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy connection and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. An always-on connection also allows images to be geotagged and for you to use a smartphone as a remote control for the camera.
There are a few key differences between the GX9 and the previous GX8 camera model to consider. The GX9 is smaller and slightly lighter in weight, it features the Dual IS on both video and photo functions, and features an updated image processor that delivers improved colour. The GX9 also has more bracketing options, extra 4K features, more wireless connectivity solutions and can achieve slightly faster shutter speeds and continuous shooting speeds.
Yes, this mirrorless camera does feature a built-in pop-up flash that is sure to come in handy in certain environments, such as when requiring a fill-in flash in shadowy outdoor settings and for low light shots such as portraits at night.
Yes, this is possible on the GX9. You can leave your battery in the camera for charging via a USB cable connecting the camera to a USB power source. We do however recommend an external charger also, so you can shoot with always be out shooting using one battery and recharging another battery in the charger simultaneously.
The GX9 is a Micro Four Thirds mount camera. With over 90 native lenses available for this mount, you can trust there will always be a lens to help you achieve exactly the shot and effect you’re looking to create.
