Powerful Venus Engine processor

The new Digital Live MOS sensor in conjunction with a powerful Venus Engine processor guarantees a whole new level of creative expression. Expect outstanding colour reproduction and pin-point detail down to the finest textures, as well as vivid brightness and contrast thanks to Multipixel Luminance Generation and Intelligent Detail Processing. Whether you’re shooting in low light at dusk with high ISO settings or in the brightness of a sunny blue-sky day, the Panasonic GH5S is sure to make your photos and videos pop.

Shoot 4K video and photo

However aspirational your film endeavours are, the Panasonic Lumix GH5S can help you get there. This mirrorless camera supports cinema-quality 4K video recording without cropping, promising you extraordinary footage even in low-light conditions. In a huge improvement over the Lumix GH5, the Lumix GH5S includes Cinema 4K (C4K: 4096 x 2160) 60p/50p video recording, with no limit to the recording time including in FHD or 4K video.

Pro video features

The Panasonic GH5S's huge range of video features truly open up the possibilities when recording video footage. Enjoy 4:2:2 10-Bit HDMI Live Output and simultaneous internal recording, as well as V-Log L Gamma and HDR Hybrid Log Gamma technology. The GH5S also supports LINE Input and features a TimeCode In/Out Terminal, while allowing you to choose from many video formats and bitrates to record at up to 400Mbps (ALL-Intra). With a dual card slot and three different video control panels – plus effects such as quick motion and slow motion and a huge range of playback modes – the list of impressive features goes on and on.

Exclusive Multiple Aspect Ratios

Enjoy the exclusive benefits of shooting in multiple aspect ratios. The Panasonic GH5S is capable of handling ratios such as 4:3, 17:9, 16:9 and 3:2 in still photography, 4K and C4K video, as well as in Anamorphic mode. Rolling shutter distortion is also suppressed by approximately 1.3x compared to the Lumix GH5, with high readout speeds achieved.

New ultra-sensitive sensor

The newly-developed Digital Live MOS sensor has seen the Panasonic GH5S reach the LUMIX range's highest-ever sensitivity and the best image quality since its release. Paired with the Dual Native ISO technology that is featured on Panasonic’s professional-level video cameras and the latest Venus Engine, very high sensitivity is now achievable with this camera while still maintaining minimal noise. You can continue shooting down to the level of -5EV, which is ideal for shooting night scenes and even in star and moonlit skies. With this powerful sensor, beautiful footage in all shooting conditions is now within reach.

Rugged design built for the elements

The Panasonic GH5S is not only splash- and dust- proof, but it’s also freeze-proof – so you can trust that, wherever you go, you can take this weather-proof camera with you. From the high-altitude alps of Nepal to the dusty Australian outback, the GH5S can handle the elements. How? Because it features weather sealing on every joint, dial and button, with a magnesium alloy full diecast armour frame that makes it durable in even the most rugged situations while still remaining lightweight and compact for easy portability.

High-resolution LVF and LCD

It’s enjoyable and easy to shoot with the Panasonic GH5S thanks to a super high-resolution 3,680k-dot OLED LVF (Live View Finder), which flaunts minimum lag time to guarantee great visibility and accurate framing. It also features a very large 3.2-inch 1,620k-dot LCD monitor with Touch Focus control that tilts and swivels to give you shooting freedom from all angles to suit every situation. Whether you’re looking through the LVF in broad daylight and or you’re lying down on the ground to get the shot using the rear LCD screen, this mirrorless camera puts every shot within grasp.

Wireless connectivity on the go

Transfer and share your images and footage as you go, whether you’re in a studio shooting portraits or out and about filming in the streets. Wireless connectivity allows fast and instant image transfer to a smartphone as well as remote shutter release and video recording for Start/Stop functions without having to even touch the camera.

No, this camera doesn’t have image stabilisation technology built into the camera body. However you can still make the most of IS technology by working with lenses that feature IS technology. If you’re filming on a tripod, this may not even be a factor you need to consider.

Does the Panasonic GH5S come with the V-Log already installed or do I have to install it?

Unlike the GH5, the Panasonic LUMIX GH5S comes with V-Log already installed as a standard feature of the camera, so you can use this straight out of the box.

What’s the benefit of the Timecode Out function?

Many cameras focused on videography offer timecode, but the Panasonic GH5S takes it an extra step by being able to output this also so you can synchronise with other GH5S bodies or other cameras. It works through the flash sync socket via a BNC conversion cable that comes included with the camera. It’s makes life so much easier when shooting with multiple cameras and it comes time to edit all the footage.

What is Depth From Defocus and what does it do?

The DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology featured in the Panasonic GH5S allows you to capture fast-moving action by calculating the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels, achieving ultra-high speed AF and 8 frames per second burst shooting with AFC.
