On the 26th of May, some of Australia’s most talented photographers will be converging on Brisbane to be part of the CameraPro Visual Storytelling Festival. We’re so excited to have each and every one of these creatives here with us for this special event.

Whether you’re a professional photographer, an upcoming talent or if you just want to improve your skills with a camera, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from experts in their fields and expand upon your own skillset.

Michaela Skovranova

Michaela Skovranova is a world-renowned underwater photographer, filmmaker and Olympus ambassador. After moving from Solvakia to Australia, she found a passion for documentary and underwater capture. Each image Michaela takes is saturated with emotion, drama and portrays a certain respect for the ocean’s beauty and raw power.  Michaela has amassed multiple awards for her work and was also included in Photoboite’s list of 30 Under 30 Women Photographers.

There’s no doubt underwater photography can be a tricky skill to master. During the Visual Storytelling Festival, Michaela will be holding a very special presentation where she will inspire guests with a unique and beautiful way of using colour to capture life underwater.

Briony Walker

Briony Walker is a talented Brisbane based storytelling photographer, capturing candid moments in the day to day lives of real Australians. Along with having a gift for capturing special moments on camera through her documentary style of family photography, Briony also enjoys having quality family time of her own with her partner Jon and 6 kids.

Briony Walker’s presentation is ideal for travellers and anyone aspiring to tell a story about their local area through photos. During her talk, Briony will be introducing everyone to the 24Hr project  and you’ll also have the opportunity to learn more from CameraPro about sponsorship and funding opportunities.

Jesse Lindemann                                      

Aussie photographer, filmmaker and CameraPro ambassador. Jesse Lindemann’s self-taught travel and lifestyle photography skills are awe-inspiring. Based on the glorious Sunshine Coast, Jesse regularly ventures to foreign countries to capture images that are built on natural light and vibrant colours. Through his photography, Jesse’s goal is to inspire others to explore the outdoors and the world around them.

Louis Lim

As a professional photojournalism student who graduated with honours from the Queensland College of Art, Louis Lim has embraced his interest and talent for photography wholeheartedly. He is particularly passionate about portraiture and is well known for photographing individuals to uncover their stories. The diversity in human conditions fascinates him which is why he’s drawn to this subject matter for his photography.

Louis’ work has been exhibited in various galleries within Australia and has been presented internationally, and now Louis is sharing his insights into his unique portraiture with Brisbane.

David Lloyd & Angela Blakely

Both David and Angela have spent over twenty years exploring conflict and personal crises topics through visual storytelling. Their journey down this path began in 1994 when they were commissioned to accompany the first troop rotation to Rwanda and document Australia’s involvement in the crisis unfolding there.

Following this, they’ve worked both together and individually in crisis areas including Bosnia, Somalia and Malawi. They’ve also worked on Australian based projects and documented various struggles and tough topics within our own society.

David and Angela’s collaborative and social documentary photography is defined as a form of storytelling, making them must have inclusions in this year’s Visual Storytelling Festival.

David and Angela tap into their many years of experience to present a non-fiction storytelling masterclass. During this masterclass, photographers have the rare opportunity to learn about how to document stories visually from these highly experienced talents.

Marian Drew

Marian Drew is a significant Australian contemporary photographic artist with a practice spanning more than twenty years. Marian’s exploration of photo-media through her art is innovative and unique. Her work has been shown across Australia and Internationally and is held in various public and private collections including Queensland Art Gallery, South Australian Art Gallery and the Australian National Gallery.
