With a maximum f/1.2 aperture the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2r lens is an example of a prime portrait lens that performs exceptionally in low light conditions – whether it’s an indoors event or in a shady or cloudy outdoor setting at the end of the day. You’ll notice the difference and love the possibilities that open up when you have so much light filtering into the lens. Capture stunning results with ease, shoot at faster shutter speeds and enjoy leaving the flash at home.
You will absolutely love how small and lightweight the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R is. It is so easy to take with you wherever you go and its compact size means it doesn’t overwhelm your subject as it isn’t so large that it seems imposing or intimidating during intimate portrait sessions. Weighing in at just 405g, it still maintains the look and feel of a premium lens.
The Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R Lens was made to deliver high-quality images with an optical construction made up of 11 elements in 8 groups, including one double-sided aspherical lens and two extra low dispersion glass elements. This design works to control aberrations and distortion while enhancing colour, delivering exceptional sharpness and capturing the finest subtleties in contrast. It also optimises light coverage through the assembly and renders appealing skin tones for lovely results.
Ghosting and flare can be common problems in lenses with deep concave elements. In the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R Lens however, a HT-EBC multi-layer coating has been applied to the rear of the front lens element to combat this and ensure top image quality, colour and contrast.
The Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R Lens features an internal focusing system, powered by a stepping AF motor that is reliably fast, smooth and accurate. Its high-speed responsiveness makes it ideal for use in video as well as stills, while the silent operation means you’ll never hear a sign of it in the audio.

While there is no image stabilisation system built into this lens, it delivers exceptional performance in low light shooting conditions thanks to the f/1.2 aperture. This makes so much light available in your images and allows faster shutter speeds while still getting amazing results. It’s amazing the different this can make!
Unfortunately, no. The Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R Lens was designed to be used with Fujifilm X-mount cameras, which have an APS-C sensor.
We always recommend keeping a clear or UV filter on your front lens element to protect it from any scratches and smudges, bumps and knocks. That way if something does damage the front of your lens, you will hopefully only have to replace the filter and not the whole lens! It’s a very affordable way to add an extra element of protection for your lens equipment.
