Fluorite and UD elements have been combined in this Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II lens to produce optimum imagery results. The lens promises sharp images with reduced aberrations and distortions, popping colour with excellent reproduction. The UD element lowers refractive index and low dispersion, giving much higher performance than standard optical glass.
This Canon L-Series is decked with air sphere coating to protect against flaring and ghosting. Shoot in brightly lit conditions and achieve contrast-rich imagery without compromise. Sun spots will be diminished to give you clear images, so you can be confident you can shoot in any lighting conditions.
Canon’s ring-type USM AF motor with internal focus is quick and intuitive. The ultrasonic motor provides fast, silent autofocusing, and maintains excellent performance in hand-held shooting. The internal focusing ensures ultra-fast shooting so you don’t miss any moments.
The optical image stabiliser ensures steadiness with handheld shooting. The image stabiliser offers up to 4 stops of correction, reducing camera shake even when shooting long focal lengths. With three modes, you can adjust the stabiliser to suit your needs.
The rotating zoom ring and torque adjustment enables you to set your ideal zoom resistance, making intricate composition adjustments easier while improving lens strength and toughness. This feature enables improved handling for minute adjustments and excellent balance throughout the zoom range.
This durable Canon L-series lens is protective against dust and moisture, perfect to work in the outdoors. Its fluoride lens coating protects from fingerprints and smudges and stops dirt sticking to the lens surface which can affect image quality. The lens is designed to be used anywhere, even in the toughest conditions out in the elements.

While the Canon 100-400mm lens is weather sealed, we recommend keeping a small microfiber towel or cloth in your camera bag in case you encounter an unexpected downpour. A cleaning kits also is handy to keep your lens dust free and keep it in good condition to last for years.
Protecting the front element in your lens is important if you’re exposing it to the outdoor elements. A protector filter will keep your lens safe and in good condition. However, it’s best not to stack filters as it can compromise the quality of your images. If you’re wanting to use a polarising or neutral density filter we would suggest removing the protector filter first.
The improved image stabilisation in this lens means you can get crisp shots even while shooting handheld. However, if you’re going to be shooting for long periods of time a monopod can be a real life (and arm) saver!
