Lens Converters & Adapters

At CameraPro we stock three types of Lens Converters & Adapters – wide angle lens converters, teleconverters and lens mount adapters.

Teleconverters
Teleconverters are professional units that are fitted between the lens and the camera to multiply the lens’ focal length. Most major camera brands will make teleconverters for their lenses, however it’s worthwhile to know that not all lenses are compatible with all teleconverters, so we would suggest checking the compatibility for each before you buy.  To give an example of how teleconverters work, a 200mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter would give the lens an effective focal length of 280mm. A 2.0x teleconverter turns a 200mm lens into a 400mm lens.

Wide Angle Lens Converters
Lens converters are a relatively cheap and easy way to widen the focal length range of your fixed lens. They simply screw on to the front of your lens to change your lens’s focal length and viewing angle.

The main reason for getting a lens converter for a fixed lens camera is to widen the viewing angle. How wide depends on the magnification factor of the lens converter. Most wide angle lens converters on the market are in the 0.6x to 0.8x range.

Lens Mount Adapters
Lens adapters convert the fitting on your camera body to accept different lens mounts. So, for example, the Fujifilm M-Mount adapter allows for M-Mount lenses to be used on X-Mount cameras. Please note - By using an adapter you may lose some lens functionality like autofocus. If you have any questions, please contact CameraPro before purchasing and we would be happy to assist you.
